The shape of the nose can often be a source of self-consciousness for individuals who feel that it is not proportionate to their other facial features. Our facial plastic surgeon serving Augusta and Evans, Georgia performs nose surgery (rhinoplasty) for patients who would like to reshape their noses so as to give the face better harmony and aesthetic balance. Also serving Atlanta and Aiken, South Carolina rhinoplasty patients, Dr. Achih H. Chen is highly skilled at nose surgery procedures and is committed to helping you reach your goals. We look forward to meeting your consultation for nose job Evans and Augusta Georgia.
The perfect nose is an elusive ideal. Instead of a single "perfect" nose for everyone, the ideal nose is a nose that fits the individual's face. It is one that is in harmony with the other facial features and one that allows areas such as the eyes to be the focal point of visual contact. The ultimate goal of rhinoplasty is always to tailor the nose so that it becomes harmonious with the other facial features.
Rhinoplasty is designed to reshape the external nose. The procedure has undergone extensive evolution as nasal anatomy and physiology have become better understood. Initially, rhinoplasties often resulted in a "scooped-out," "turned-up," or "pinched-in" look that was often characterized as "operated-on." Since then, improved techniques and procedures have dramatically revolutionized nose surgery. The goal of the modern rhinoplasty is a natural-appearing nose that is in harmony with other facial features.
Please contact our Augusta and Evans, Georgia-area rhinoplasty (nose surgery) facility to schedule a consultation with Dr. Chen. Those visiting from Atlanta, Aiken, South Carolina and beyond with questions about having rhinoplasty performed by our respected facial plastic surgeon are also invited to contact the Georgia Center for more information.
Rhinoplasty may be performed through two approaches: the endonasal approach and the external approach. The endonasal approach uses only intranasal incisions (inside the nose), while the external approach also incorporates a skin incision hidden in a shadow along the collumella (the bridge of skin between the nostrils). The approach that is chosen depends upon individual anatomy and surgical goals.
Here at our Augusta and Evans, Georgia-area nose surgery facility, convenient to Aiken, South Carolina, rhinoplasty is usually performed under deep sedation. Post-operative discomfort is minimal. Bruising and swelling vary from individual to individual but, if present, usually present around the lower eyelids. These symptoms usually resolve within one to two weeks. A nasal splint placed on the external nose is removed at six to seven days post-operatively. Patients may return to light activities within a few days, but should reserve vigorous exercise until two weeks after surgery. Contact sports should be avoided for four weeks.
